There's something magical about golden hour in a sunflower field. Our summer mini sessions captured families surrounded by towering blooms, creating dreamy, sun-drenched portraits that embody the warmth of the season. If you've never done a sunflower session, picture this: rows of bright yellow blooms standing taller than your toddler, soft evening light filtering through the petals, and your family wandering through it all while I quietly capture the wonder on your kids' faces. These themed mini sessions are a summer favorite here in the Spring Lake and Fayetteville area, and for good reason — the setting does half the work, and the joy is completely real. Mini sessions are short and sweet: about 15 to 20 minutes, with a curated set of beautifully edited images delivered in an online gallery. They're perfect for families who want gorgeous seasonal photos without the time commitment of a full session, and they tend to book up fast because the sunflowers are only at their peak for a short window each year. A few tips if you join the next round: dress in soft, earthy tones or gentle pastels that complement (rather than compete with) all that yellow — think cream, sage, dusty blue, and warm neutrals. Flowy dresses and linen look especially beautiful with the breeze and the blooms. Time your little ones' naps so they arrive happy, and come ready to let them explore; some of my favorite frames are kids on tiptoe trying to peek over the flowers or reaching up to touch a petal. Sunflower minis are also wonderful for maternity announcements, milestone photos, and simple updated family portraits for the year. Keep an eye on my booking calendar and social media in mid-to-late summer — when the field is ready, I announce dates and they fill quickly. I'd love to capture your family among the blooms next season.
