What is a sunflower field session exactly?
A sunflower field session is a type of photography session that takes place in a sunflower field. Sunflower fields are popular locations for photographers to capture beautiful, colorful images of people, couples, families, and children. Sunflower field sessions are typically held in the summer or early fall, when sunflowers are in bloom, and provide a stunning background for photographs.
Where are sessions typically held?
North Carolina is home to several beautiful sunflower fields that are popular for photographers to capture stunning images. Sunflower field sessions may be held at a local sunflower farm or at a sunflower field that has been planted specifically for photography sessions. Photographers often offer sunflower field sessions as a limited-time option (mini sessions), as the flowers only bloom for a short period each year (typically from mid-July to mid-August).
What can I expect during the photoshoot?
During a sunflower field session, photographers typically guide clients through poses and compositions to capture beautiful, natural-looking images. Sunflower field sessions may be held during the day or at sunset, (depending on the hours of operation of the location) to achieve the desired lighting and look of the final images.
Who are sunflower sessions for?
Sunflower field sessions are a popular choice for family, engagement, and senior portrait sessions, as the colorful flowers provide a stunning and vibrant backdrop for photographs.I will say, however, that if you are allergic to bees this may not be suitable for you.
About This Session:
For this particular session, I decided to explore Cathis Farm, a local Lillington family-owned and operated farm, by taking my family. Despite it being a very hot and humid day, we all had a great time. There were a few photo ops set up for people to take their own photographs, which was really nice so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own props if you don’t want to. With the purchase of your entry into the farm, you are allowed to take home one free sunflower of your choice. They provide you with a pair of snips on your way to the fields and you clip your own flower. On the way out, they bag up your flower for you. I had the opportunity to meet the female owner of the farm and she was very kind and sweet to us. Among visiting the sunflower fields there is also a little children’s play area and concessions stand for lively refreshments and treats. Our visit to the sunflower farm was a success and did not disappoint!
