What is a 4th of July Session?
A Fourth of July session is a type of photography session that is themed around the Fourth of July holiday. The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
Fourth of July sessions are typically held outdoors and may feature patriotic themes, such as red, white, and blue colors, American flags, and other Fourth of July-themed props. Photographers often offer Fourth of July sessions as a limited-time option (mini sessions), as the holiday only occurs once a year.
About This Session:
I had a lot of fun photographing this fourth of July-themed session with my twin girls. I kept the props very simple with an oversized American flag as the backdrop, and a couple of miniature windmills that I had them hold onto. The fire engine truck was a fun antique prop that I had borrowed from my father-in-law. It was actually a very unique ride-on toy that he loved to play with as a child himself, so as you can imagine, it was a very sentimental prop to have my own children enjoy. It was a gorgeous day and we all enjoyed being outdoors while having a little photo-op fun!
